I can’t stress this enough: I still passionately support cat rescue. If you are rescue staffer who makes potential adopters cry or
takes glee in rigidly adhering to policy instead of thoughtfully considering whether someone standing in front of you might be suitable & having a conversation with them, ask if that serves your mission.

And please stop using #singlekittensyndrome to deny adopters. It isn’t a scientifically or medically verified “syndrome.” Offer support & counsel instead. People don’t need to be frightened into it. I mean, look at these two. #caturday

This article mirrored our search in NH. It didnt take as long as you. Our ordeal included a small org that took our deposit then said check back in a week for an update. Week later they said they were on vacation, a week later still on vacation. Hung up on us when we called again. Refund via dispute

Oh my gosh, I felt like I was having flashbacks reading this!! I had a hell of a time adopting my void boy, a 1 1/2 year old painfully shy black cat who was the last of his litter. After 3 30 min video chats and a detailed review of *20 years of vet care*, I was accepted. But it didn't end there!

It took 6 months for the rescue to send me records of all of his vet visits so I could keep him up to date on his vaccinations. It took 2 more years for her to change the HomeAgain microchip data over to me. Yet she made me sign a contract stating that she could call and "check on me" *anytime*.

She was a lovely lady, and I think she cared deeply for the cats in her care, but the lack of any standardization made it really hard to get my hands on Bataille's records and have my address registered to his microchip - a necessity for proving he's my cat! Anyway he's home and settled now.

I wanted to go through an agency to get my little beast but the application to adopt was demeaning. I'm surprised that they didn't ask to run my credit for a FICO score. In the end, I got my little guy from a Facebook post.
