There was nothing wrong with the idea of replacing a line keeper like De Gea for a more front-footed sweeper keeper, but the choice of Onana as his successor was a massive misjudgement. #lfc

Their recruitment has been woeful. Overpaying (fees and wages) for average to mediocre players. Not identifying the correct type of player. Not having a wage structure in place. Just awful recruitment!
They thought they had it right just offering more than any other team would, but as they seem to just sign then worry about if it's a good deal, you can see how they got here.
Likening this back to LFC, this is one of the reasons I can't be FSG Out. Whilst I would like to see (a lot) more backing for the manager in the transfer window, we are a very well run club, and under FSG, we would never end up in their position. There will come a time when the club outgrow them.
The way I see it, some people are paranoid they are taking from the club's pockets, it's not true, they are building up the value of the club, by keeping it consistent and stable, one day their £300m will be £6b+, and that is the day they gain, and we move onto the next level.
United have long ago stopped looking analytically at potential signings and simply say “ we need a GK, who’s the most expensive one available b/c he must be the best”. Or which one does the manager want b/c then he can’t say “ it’s not my team”.
It's a trait from the Fergie days, he signed players not only who would improve United, but those who might improve rivals, except since he left they've slipped more and more and just go for players rivals might sign at any cost.
