Thank the Supreme Court in their ludicrous decision in Citizen's United that money is speech and can't be restrained. They lacked foresight to see that it can also be used to buy elections, for a corrupt end. They need to revisit it, and narrow its scope or demcoracy is doomed by the kleptocracy.
