So according to the BBC, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are going to be visible to the naked eye (along with our moon) with Uranus and Neptune seeable via a telescope soon. A rare planetary alignment. But is it just me, or have they got Earth and Mars the wrong way round here on this image? - ThreadSky

It roughly fits, planetarily. Venus is bigger than Mars, but slightly smaller than Earth, so the order looks right, if slightly out of cosmic scale.

I think the red one to the left of Earth is supposed to be Venus, Mars is the tiddly one to the right. Mercury seems a bit big though.

Deleted my first response and trying again after a closer look: that image makes no kind of sense. If it's meant to be the alignment as seen from Earth, Earth shouldn't be there. If that's the Moon instead, the order of the planets should be different in any case and the Sun can't be there either.

If this is just a stock image though not directly related to the story, then I think the two planets left of Earth are Mercury and Venus, with a tiny Mars between Earth and Jupiter. The scale is silly and the Moon is missing.

That was my thought but yeah Mars is way too small and Mercury way too big
