Odd that we have a patronage system in which actual experts get gongs that come with no power while Toby Young, Nigel Biggar and a load of party hacks become parliamentarians.

I wouldn’t even mind a appointed second chamber if it were done properly, a sensible size, term limits, more resistant to cronyism. What we have at the moment is the worst of all worlds
'Odd' is a bit euphemistic to describe one of the glaring gaps in the UK's democracy - positions for pals in the Upper House that have to be 'honoured' by the British public. I just can't fathom why the public will now tolerate these yokels to prance on various platforms as Lord this and Lady that.
Odd? Not really. This is how the Establishment have always behaved and preserved their power. Granted, they’re a bit more brazen about it these days and you can’t help thinking that some of their awards are just made for trolling purposes.

We are NOT a world power, or really rich, or a leader in technology and science, or trade, or sport, or anything anymore.
We are a sub-par Sweden at best.
That's actually not a bad thing to be.
We live in the past.
Mr Young's services to comedy are unsurpassed. 😉
How can you not laugh whenever he opens his mouth?
That man has caused far too much damage already. Elevating him to Parliament is essentially spitting on most teachers and pupils in the country.
