once I had a philosophy professor who showed how Nietzsche's "God is dead, and we have killed him" is a rhetorical pastiche/adaptation/detournement of a Good Friday sermon, which blew my mind so hard I'll probably remember it until I die

I just recently started reading some Nietzsche and he has a very different perspective on life than most of what I was told when I was a kid. Very insightful philosopher
I guess you got lucky. I attended college during the Cold War, and had to listen to my idiot American-born socialist professor teaching the history of the USSR argue with young Jewish Soviet dissidents that he knew their country better than them, because he "studied" it. What a putz!
