Interesting... This SDK was originally freely available on their site for over a decade, up until the start of 2024. I'm curious to see if they've updated anything for this re-release.
Well! An example image has moved, but otherwise the SDK is untouched. The example Makefile adds two flags, and that's about it. A weird note though is in pocketlib.h & .txt: They *remove* thanks to Miko Hoshina & Martin Koth, whose prior reverse engineering laid the foundations for this SDK.
I also have to note, the readme (pocketlib.txt) fails to mention that Cygwin is required. I used this SDK on an older Win10 computer a few years ago, but haven't gotten the example project to build on Win11 this time around. I'm probably just missing an environment PATH though, have to check later.
Iirc this library is more of an update of that older library than an expansion upon it. I've never actually gotten far enough to make a game though so I might be wrong
If you've a freemcboot ps2 it's very easy to drop games onto an actual PocketStation and they cost like $20 now.
It's also pretty easy with memcarduino and an old multitap if you're technically inclined
The actual homebrew scene for it in Japan at the time seemed really cool from what I could unearth on the internet archive. Feel like if it had gone international with the arm processor being relatively easy to code for it could have had a huge scene
