Your blue box is incorrect; it should be around LBJ. 19th Amendment gave white women the franchise. Black people needed the Voting Rights Act. Its passage triggered white migration from the Dem Party to the GOP. GOP have been promising to protect white folks ever since.

So I looked deeper into the "order", such as it is, and they don't go across and down uniformly... except the bottom tow rows. Everything above that is actually a 3x3 sequare of VPs. So the order is top row 1, 2, 3, then second row 1, 2, 3. For the 3x3 with blue/yellow, same pattern.
