Had my 1st MRI yesterday bc my migraines have been more frequent and difficult to manage. I've had them for 25 years, and the specialist I saw and the MRI techs were shocked it was my first. Why is that?

1. Long family history of migraines and classic symptoms managed by triptans.
2. Male doctor who was excellent but also didn't listen well.
3. I knew that it would cost me several thousand $s with insurance.
It wasn't until my current dr said, "It sounds like something has changed. I could prescribe something add'l, but a specialist likely has better solutions," that I realized that I can now afford to see a specialist, get tests, and get real help.
I have good insurance, an HSA, a supportive spouse, and parents who live with us and help with our kids. A lot of Americans don't have any of that. They don't get health care. Sometimes, they die from something preventable. Or they suffer for years.

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS.
