You are being too harsh, Walt is a friend of Ukraine who genuinely wants to help. He is very explicit about that. But it is his moral duty to prevent a friend from doing something really stupid, like endangering soldiers to save civilians from a genocide and us from helping them in doing so

Yes, this is one of the worst parts. If he wants to argue that US interests are different from Ukrainian interests, fine. But to try to assert that we have a better sense of the moral tradeoffs between continued fighting and concessions is really arrogant.
