This is a case where IMO the ship on the policy has sailed and the best option is to make access to and availability of the IDs very easy

Voter ID is a literacy test (navigating the bureaucracy to get an ID) combined with a poll tax (the cost to get an ID that you only NEED for voting). Somehow people get that those are very bad separately but if you combine them they love it.

You're right of course, but their rhetoric is an obfuscation of their intent. They know democracy is not on their side. They have worked hard to come up with a set of messaging that allows them to strangle democracy while sounding like they are reinforcing it.

Good ideas but I don’t think framing as “the only solution” is wise, especially in short run given that congressional action is required to make this national. We’re not helpless if these ideas are not law in next few years. But again,good ideas.

And automatic free access to the documents necessary to obtain or update those IDs. No one should have to pay to update their legal names if they choose to change them when they get married (or for any other reason).
