My only issue is that the animation seems to lean way hard into the John K style of gross faces and detailed butts, but by God at least every frame of that butt was drawn by hand

It's done. It's in the can, it's already aired in other countries as well as here in the US in limited screenings. It literally cannot be made a tax write-off now.

It's very different than a tax write-off in the legal sense. That's more of a case of the parent company not promoting or pulling it after the fact, not to mention the decisions of regimes that run media companies that swap out every few years. Supporting a project when it's out helps keep it there.

But from what I remember, SOMETHING happened with the two shows I mentioned that prevented legal re-releases for years (Sym-Bionic Titan eventually got out of that, but Megas still hasn't), and people referred to what happened with them as a tax write-off, so I've always been confused on it.

There are a few scary moments, moments of peril, etc. One scene with a monster that might be too suspenseful or "ALIEN-like" for wee youngsters, but I think if you showed him some old Looney Tunes shorts beforehand, or if he can handle an early Disney film like Bambi or Pinocchio, he'd be okay!
