I think Disney not acknowledging him is very reasonable. He was the villain in Mickey's cartoons, and acknowledging the debut of an antagonist, however big a milestone it may be, would not be welcomed by the general public.

Seeing as how Walt once said, "It was all started by a MOUSE," any milestone anniversary of any character of the company's that came before Mickey would be ignored by mainstream audiences and most animation experts.

Disney markets their villains all the time, they’re a profitable brand. They even have a whole theme park land in the works about them. Acknowledging the 100th anniversary of their oldest character still used today wouldn’t be bad PR at all, if anything it’d be a good buzz for them.

Exactly. Heck, their most profitable villain brand are anything from Star Wars. Though, it’s kind of messed up that they’re happy producing fascist like merchandise with the Stormtrooper and the Empire/First Order Officer cosplay outfits at their parks.
