Not sure where you're located but it looks like they're touring this summer. I might try to take my daughter to the Hartford show, it's the closest to NYC they're doing as of now https://www.cakemusic.com/tour
Nice, I caught them about 10 years ago. Had so much fun! I mean, it's not exactly exploratory music, but everyone singing along and dancing. Great vibe.
CAKE shows are very hit or miss. I've seen them twice. Once it was great, the other time the lead singer was a huge dbag the entire show and it was not fun at all lol
Ah, weird. Good to know, thanks. I've only seen them once, on the Unlimited Sunshine tour in 2002. It's probably the best show I've seen that I don't remember a single note of: Cake, Modest Mouse, FLips, & De La Soul
love their music. but their frontman has a huge ego and gets very offended if the crowd isn't as "locked in" as he feels like they should be. He also really, really hates hippies lol
I’m gonna try and hit one. John is good people. A close friend of my close friend. (Close friend once removed?) Took my son backstage at a show years ago and just chilled. Powerful experience. My son was non verbal, severe brain damage, loved the energy from live shows. Cake was super accommodating
I also caught a show in Ashland at a small outdoor amphitheater. Everyone in the crowd knew the words to every song. Sing along would normally drive me nuts! But it somehow fit perfectly with Cake. I have their box set on vinyl. It kicks major a$$
Damn straight. A Cake tribute band, "Frosting", out here in Colorado played a festival was at last summer. They had 45 minutes, hits and some deeper cuts. Got me to get some of their stuff back into my "background music" rotation.

If you haven't heard it, you must listen to this, which IMO is the best thing they've ever done https://youtu.be/ykx_37MfGQc?si=-M8omCvC2nHq8nGm
