I'm not a lawyer, but I find it hard to believe that a doctor or hospital can lose a malpractice case for providing care that was requested and approved by the patient or, in the case of a minor, the patient's guardian.

Malpractice is for failing to meet the standard of care, not for providing it.

I am going off of my experience as a trans person having to deal with a population of 99.5% cis people day in and day out. Most people aren't violently antagonistic towards us but most people do dislike us.

I'm not going to contradict your experience. I will say though that most of my fellow cis people tend to lose the dislike as they get to know trans people personally and as trans people become more visible over the next few years, things will change rapidly.

Trans people deserve the same rights and safety as everybody. In the LGBT communities all the others managed to find a way to get the straight majority to like them. It is just a matter of finding a way. The culture wars about women sports and women bathrooms is very counter productive imho.

If this is the strategy, it is a foolish one, under the ordinary rules of the game, so to speak.

Where it is a problem is that if claims are piling up, even if they’re all losers, it will spook insurers. This could be the play.

It’d also require a lot of funding to pull off.
