In example, I have two accounts on the same domain: `@ewancroft.uk` (this main account) and `@dev.ewancroft.uk` (testing account), each on different subdomains.
i would link mine to my neocities, but then my username would be branflakes.branflakes, com or somethin like that cuz my neocities blog is also called branflakes lol
As long as you can put a file in the .well-known folder in the root of https://branflakes.com you can get the @branflakes.com handle. No DNS necessary.
It'd also be cool if Bluesky didn't nag me to verify my email, since I have a domain.
I literally own an entire domain. Two, actually. I could, of course, make an email. Tons of emails. I just don't want to even bother. Domain verification with a second-level domain should be STRONGER than email.
I'd make lists of public domains that allow anyone to claim a handle, kinda like the public suffix list but more ATProto specific. https://bsky.social would be on the list, as an example. Anything not on the list? Skip email verification for these users, they could make you a thousand email addresses anyway
You can get domain verified by using a https://github.io or any other subdomain (-> https://freedns.afraid.org), so it is not even a blocker if you cannot afford to buy a domain. You just need to host a webpage and do the Let's Encrypt verification.
nah not really, in the future it might be a good way to verify yourself as human if bot networks start spamming everyone from https://bsky.social accounts
it’s also good if you just want traffic to a website you own

Same applies to any subdomain.

all it does is show you spent at least $5-10 on a domain, which means you are less likely to be a bot
