I noticed some journalists attributing the increased warming rate to El Niño.

It's important to address that during press events.

See realclimate posts about need to operationalize reporting & dataset availability. This is a one step feasible with limited effort.

And i guess it reduces friction between the orgs (no wasting effort on first past the post reporting). All parties signal the other parties hold equal value.

China-MST was updated in January 2024; perhaps the timing will be the same for 2025. Qingxiang Li recently said that a time series of China-MST monthly uncertainties might be available in early 2025 (recently an annual uncertainty time series was made available, after I requested it).

Well, JRA-55 has been discontinued, but JRA-3Q should be available in near real time. I think John @micefearboggis.bsky.social has that in hand.

Does JRA-3Q have an uncertainty ensemble similar to ERA5? I downloaded JRA-3Q surface air temperature from the UCAR website earlier (the DIAS website wasn't working for me), but I did not see multiple ensemble members available.
