finished HORIZON: FORBIDDEN WEST with the Burning Shores expansion and yeah it was better than the first one was, with the EXCEPTION of the crafting/upgrading system, which was too farm-y

Indeed. Loved playing it, but boy, did I find the upgrade system a downgrade. Once I figured out that the armor improvements in the first game were very straightforward, my choice paralysis vanished.
the HORIZON ZERO DAWN board game is, by all accounts, kind of a mess and it is definitely wayyyyyy too expensive for a kind-of-a-mess game, which is a pity because there's definitely tabletop game space to explore in the setting
I think the ideal genre for HORIZON tabletop is either a straight RPG or a living card game a la ARKHAM HORROR or MARVEL CHAMPIONS, which together are the opposite ends of the HORIZON storytelling spectrum - its horror is more grounded than ARKHAM but its action more refined than MARVEL
anyhoo getting away from my original point which is that after 122 hours of gameplay I am Ready For A New Vidyagame, at least until HORIZON III: HOW DID THE TECHBROS FUCK US THIS TIME comes out on PC
