We’re delaying opening pre-orders for Framework Laptop 12 in the US. We’re still opening orders for the other countries we ship to tomorrow (April 9th), now at 10am PT. (cont)

Sad, I was really looking forward to trying to snag that bubble gum 12, but I totally understand. I just hope this insanity is only temporary. But it does make me even more grateful for my 13
We’re incrementally making adjustments for US customers as tariff impact comes into effect, starting from changes that are most reversible. That is, temporarily delisting SKUs or delaying listing new SKUs is easy to undo if we see tariff reduction or mitigation. (cont)
We’re holding the next step, repricing products for sale in the US, until we have final confirmation that there is no alternative. We'll keep you updated as we make changes, as well as on when we'll be able to open Framework Laptop 12 in the US. (cont)
I suppose the million dollar question on everyone's mind, or at least mine..
How does this impact those of us who pre-ordered the new 13? I'm Batch 1 and was expecting a computer this month, but now expecting either a delay or a *stout* price increase?
It’s very frustrating that I have to come here to get any word on this, even vague as this is; nothing on the blog, official forums just “word on tariffs soon,” but nothing else.
First batch of preorders goes out “mid-April.” 1-2 weeks? And they can’t even say if the price will go up or if they’ll honor what we committed to at order? Even if they tell us today, that’s no notice. They needed to warn via email as soon as this possibility arose, even if they didn’t have numbers
Agree. I mean I get it, but I don't understand how there isn't clear direction that can be announced. There really can only be 2 options here if the tariffs end up going in, right? They cancel the orders or the final payment goes up. I'm not sure what there is to work out
The tariffs aren’t their fault but the fact they haven’t even sent an email to customers with pending orders, solid dollar numbers or not, weeks after they knew this was going to happen, when they’re supposed to ship in a week or two is very much their fault.
As a reminder, although we are US-headquartered, we manufacture our laptops in Taiwan. That means we currently face a 10% tariff importing to the US, increasing to 32% on April 9th. (cont)
The basis of our products and company is longevity, and we're making these changes to ensure we're able to continue to deliver on our mission for the long term. (cont)
I figured that would happen. I was so excited to finally own a framework machine that fit my needs almost exactly (upgrading to dual channel ram down the line would make it perfect for me) but I understand. I’m sad but I understand.
Please tell your team to take care. That goes for you too 😊❤️
