and is now back with the Planning Inspectorate for redetermination.

The oil company, Egdon Resources, has submitted a ten-page addendum to its Environmental Statement covering an assessment of the climate impacts of the scope 3 emissions.

They assess these against the UK’s Carbon Budgets and conclude they are "not of a magnitude that could materially affect the attainment of the UK Carbon Budgets over the 15 year life of the Biscathorpe wellsite. Consequently, the effects ... on climate change would not be significant.”

Aargh... all individual projects can claim this but collectively, they blast through not only UK carbon budgets but what limits needed to keep global temperatures liveable. Where does that adding up get done? Nowhere it seems.
