Why is @kenwhite.bsky.social on a TERFs blocklist? Is he a TERF?

For Follow Friday, here are two of my favorites:

@asharangappa.bsky.social - Asha Rangappa is my co-host on our "It's Complicated" podcast, a brilliant lawyer, and national security expert.

@kenwhite.bsky.social - Ken White (Popehat) is one of the most honest and incisive legal minds on here.

I support the legal and social equality of trans people, view the ongoing hate campaign against them as evil, and support their autonomy and freedom. I know several young people who grew up with my kids who are trans and I am concerned about their well-being. /1

/2 I am skeptical of the Democrats who think that the Harris campaign was too pro-trans because it’s manifestly not true and also because people will never run out of outsiders they demand you hate.

But some people view me as anti-trans and despise me for it.

/3 That’s their right. I don’t have the views I have to gain their approval. I don’t react well to people telling me whom I can talk to or about, particularly when they approach it in an entitled way. My views on free speech remain the same even though that speech is sometimes evil.

/4 Just as there is a small online subset of ANY group that is EXTREMELY online and cliqueish and obnoxious, there is a small subgroup of trans activists who are entitled struggle session assholes. I don’t play nice with them. I accept if they take that as being anti-trans.

There are people who will tell you I am anti-trans, and I have no problem with you listening to them and making your own decision.

Finding you on the blocklist is the first i’d heard of it. Balanced against the mass of information of your views in general that i’ve acquired from other sources, i think i’ll not block.

This is the problem with auto-subscribing to massive block-lists, you're essentially surrendering your online experience to some curator who's just human who you may or may not agree with on everything and who may or may not let a personal vendetta get in the way of their judgment.
