Literally have never heard of anything like this happening at LAT before.

My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

I subscribe to LAT (it's my hometown paper.) The boots-on-the-ground journalism is solid (re: fires coverage). But with new owner, the op-eds are pro-Trump propaganda, with titles like "RFK Jr appeals to everyday moms," "Make LA Great Again," "Ending birthright citizenship is legally sound," etc.

Newspapers only exist because of their readers. If you want to shut down the LA Times, cancel your subscription (digital and/or print), unfollow on social media channels, and unsubscribe from LAT emails. Freelance writers should cross them off their pitch list.

You can’t just buy a property and enjoy the historical equity.

When you keep calling them by their old names, you give undeserved legitimacy to Shiong and Bezos.
