My youngest checks out 4 books a week from our public library and 1 a week from school. James Patterson kids books and Dav Pilkey books are his favorite so far. I check out at least 3 books a month. 2 physical copies and a Libby audio. We buy all our favorites. Readers for life!

When I was really broke, I’d check out books from the library and if it was one I KNEW I needed to own I’d buy it. It kept me from going broke when I didn’t have a huge book budget and I still bought books :) libraries are everything good about society imo and not just the books ;)

I owe my 27 year career in advertising to our public libraries!! I dropped out of college due to lack of money in 1992, no idea what I was going to do for a living. I read every book I could find on graphic design, taught myself, built a portfolio and got a job in the business!

Our local library is sadly no more. But it DOES still belong to the community and is now an art cinema. It's not dead, it's resting. It does have an extensive collection of donated books, including some of yours sir. Underground libraries also have a place in the world.

Ours has a cricut and they rent tools. They also have an amazing dvd and puzzle collection. There are kids that have groups that meet and play D and D, paint, play games in the teen lounge AND you can read to shelter dogs. We’re there 2x a week.

Whenever a book comes out that sounds interesting, I ask for it, they order it and suddenly more people have access to knowledge. I love my librarians, we discuss books every time I go in. If it were not for them, I couldn't afford to read and learn.

My niece (10) has an ereader and knows how to borrow ebooks from Auckland's libraries.

And now we're having discussions about which books she's old enough to read because she's burning through the ones in her age range at full speed.

I'll be suggesting 'Kaiju' at the next opportunity.
