An interesting take from someone who was so hands off facing the community personally, especially in the years at the end of his run as CEO. Then again, choosing to only see a service as a thing & ignoring the human element of it's users & workers seems pretty on point for the tech world as a whole.

Seems like Shear knew that everything peaked during the pandemic years and he couldn't do any better. So, he handed things off to Clancy so he didn't have to be the one to deal with the fallout from "decreasing numbers". Also, if he was at this level of "out of ideas" he shouldn't be running things.
