Like, using fusion360 feels like I'm chained to a service model that will go enshittified sooner than later. Same as folks using Mixamo and these SaaS tools.
Is there something big you're missing from fusion? I wanted to do that jump too but I'm too scared with freecad UI
that's exactly why I was scared of freecad forever, the UI feels like window 98 or something. i actually really like the freecad work flow, fusion feels like bloatware at this point
Honestly, I kinda like that. I was more worried about missing tools. Sometimes I prefer everything laid out on a table (like my actual desk! 😂) instead of buried in submenus and dropdowns
Check out Alibre Atom 3D. It has a UI and workflow more similar to traditional solid modeling (Inventor / Solidworks), perpetual license and supposedly great customer support. I am considering making the jump.
They just posted a video about Black Friday pricing today! Maybe worth checking out if you're interested. I'm using their Pro license and never wanted to back to Fusion.
I'd love to set me free from fusion. But I'm so used to the tool and we also use it for manufacturing on the cnc that I feel is going to take a lot of effort/time to be able to change. Some day...
