So hey, I got bifocals. Do you have them, fellow Olds? How long did it take to get used to them? Do you use them while driving? Talk to me about these confusing glasses.

I have them and I haaaaaate them. I only wear them every other weekend bc I went the cheap route and they screwed up the placement. I have off the shelf bifocal sunglasses that are fine, but it still trips me up (sometimes literally) to look down. Count your stairs. It helps.
I don't drive, so that part's out. It took me a while to get used to them, and I still have to slow down on stairs - the shift between "forward" and "down" view is still disorienting.
Took about 6 months to not consciously notice every time I shifted views, and to find the best angle for computer.
I need them pretty badly, but I don't have vision insurance and also I'm afraid of not being able to get used to them. But any time I try to look at something up close now, I have to take my glasses off. I think that makes me feel older than if I had bifocals!
How much did it cost you, buying online? I've checked out Zenni and stuff before, but I think the extra stuff was always more? Although I know it'd still be cheaper than buying from the eye doctor's place!
I have had them for a while and it took a few days but I’d say it took about as long as it took for the initial rainbow effect to wear off when you first get glasses to get used to the bifocals. I wear them everywhere, but I just have the one pair.
Also: I later realised after many years not all bifocals are created equal, doubly so for varifocals. I've paid for very expensive ones from a high street optician which were much worse than the cheaper ones I got from an Internet site I sent my prescription to
I get all of mine from the internet. My last eye doctor didn't even blink at my asking for my Rx even though they sold glasses - everyone knows it's cheaper, and more variety.
I cannot drive without them! Well, strictly speaking I can looking out of the windscreen, but I wouldn't be able to see the sat nav or what speed I was doing 😆.
They can take a week to get used to. The first pair I had, I also felt weird going downstairs.

Have you called eye clinics and priced an exam? If they'll give you your Rx you can get glasses online. That's what I do and they work very well.
