Because of my career path I didn’t end up getting my first tattoo until I was 35 years old. There’s still a lot of professional stigma against doctors having visible tattoos but after my dad died I decided to get my first one & I haven’t haven’t stopped because more people have died I love ink.

While I definitely wouldn't have gotten the first tattoo I got at 18 if I waited until now (it is without a doubt my least favourite), I don't regret any of them. They're a record of who I and what I was at the time. But I agree, 9 is far too young.

side note: i don’t remember if it’s mentioned in the article but the parents had taken the girl to MULTIPLE places who all refused. those parents were not leaving AZ without their daughter getting tattooed, period. i think it’s worth noting that.
