It's hardly controversial to say Hughes won't resign here if he doesn't see a path to a cup. He could go to any team he wanted for $15, $16 million per year. We need to make moves targeting a run next year at least

While they currently sit a point out of a playoff spot? When they went to game 7, 2nd round last year, then won the Norris? When he took the captaincy?

Perennially rebuilding is probably not correct. How about perennially underachieving, mismanaged, and surrounded by self-inflicted drama and distractions.
