It is possible that a few of these designers use AI. Some of them, like CutePatternsByMaria, seem to employ numerous artists just based on the differing styles of the patterns. I steer clear of the ones that seem a bit too elaborate for the price being charged.

Yeah, I agree. Some of the art is human-made and just converted into a cross stitch pattern which without editing can look muddy. But there is definitely AI in some of them as well.

It's easier to spot once you get your eye in.

AI patterns are made to be sold, not stitched. So the listing will not include a photo of the finished cross stitch.

AI patterns are quick to draw up, real patterns take time. If you see a store with hundreds of designs, they're probably AI.

If the pattern uses loads (20+) of different thread colours, it could be AI.

Check the reviews, people often post WIPs on their reviews. AI patterns usually don't have those.

Confetti effect is common in AI, with lots of different coloured single stitches in the same small area.
