Yes. I think there's a lot to be said for appealing to working class Republican voters, but not by moving further right. What they should have acknowledged is that the system is broken and offered radical change. Attack the elite, make clear who is stealing from working class people.
The problem is when the dems try and "appeal to republicans" they actually try and appeal to beltway republican political commentators / funders. They adopt right wing think-tank policies, missing that this isn't why people vote Republican, it's what the Republican doners want for rewards.
