I find it’s because the eye is immediately drawn to text so whenever text is placed on an image that isn’t part of the structural flow of that image it immediately destroys the flow.

I agree, and I think that when a photographer places a watermark on a photo, it communicates to the viewer (whether intended or not) that the photo is art worthy of being copied. It's a statement of hubris that I just can't get behind. A photo's value is in the eyes/mind/heart of the viewer.

If I am posting a photo on the internet I usually include a watermark. If I am printing the photo I remove the watermark.

I see your point though. I will have to consider it.

I completely understand the reasons people watermark their photos, but in 2024, a watermark can be removed with almost zero effort. I think photographers should consider their motivations for posting their photos. Is it to share or to hype themselves? For me, it's all about sharing images.
