There are 28 entries on this ballot -- initiatives, charter amendments, president, senator, etc., all the way down to Public Utility Commissioner for County District 1.
25, really, since in three races there's only one candidate, and I don't bother to vote in those.
i hate the one candidate / no real choice ones, too, but i usually still vote for them under the party i'd prefer. i don't know if it makes a difference, but i at least want to show that i would vote for a differentiated person from that party, if they ran.
This American has filled out his ballot -- and written up a cheat sheet for the use of spouse/offspring, in the event they don't want to look up who's running for Commissioner of Public Lands &c. Once the rest of Casa Busiek has voted, the ballots will go to the local drop box.
And it turns out there were four races where candidates were running unopposed. But in a refreshing change of pace, three of them were decent public servants who support good stuff and only one was an anti-abortion pro-militarizing-the-police asshole. It's usually the other way around.
I love love love voting from home for this reason. I've mentioned it to my coworkers several times and they still don't seem to get it. I dunno if they just skip the down ballot stuff or what.
It's the right way for voting to work. The Colorado ballot always has so much on it sitting down to work through it with sources is civilized democracy.
We voted to raise the salary. Our county charter is antiquated enough that the sheriff was being paid less than an undersheriff or senior deputy, which is not the best way to get good candidates.
[And when I say "we," I mean "I." I do not know that the rest of the family will vote in accordance with my cheat sheet, but since they keep requesting it I kinda suspect they will.]
In October 2024, a crack comic book writer voted Democrat and was sent to prison by a military court. This man promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Northwest underground. Still wanted by the government, he survives as a freelance writer. If you have a problem...

I love doing this at home...
This time, at least, most of the candidates running solo were Democrats or non-partisans who lean progressive. Only one unopposed Republican.

He's also running against our former Congresswoman, so it's a pleasure to vote against her once again. Seems like old times!
