Liked Dave the landlord of Charlie's a lot. Always had to put up with so much shit and if he hadn't have done the pub would have been empty.

I drank in the Wheatsheaf when Dave had Charlies. Landlords in Stoke all had to put up with crap at sometimes, always seemed to be something going on.

I was drinking in Charlies about a week after Wetherspoons took over the Wheatsheaf and Dave said to me and my mate who were the only ones in there "fuck it let's get round there and I'll buy you a drink, it'll save on the heating"😌

Wetherspoons killed Stoke. A lot of pubs died when Wetherspoons opened.

I was just about to ask you if it was called Valentines before. Can remember the canopy on the front as we'd walk past to the bus in Glebe St after losing all our money in the Silver Coin😊
