People give George Soros shit for the stuff he’s funded, but he funded one of the most important journalistic organizations in the entire world: the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

Elon Musk, David Sacks, and their ilk would never be brave enough to create an ICIJ.

Look man, what he had to do to survive The Holocaust is horrifying.

I get that he probably has to disassociate from that a bit to be functional, but hearing him talk about it in that detached way is hard to hear.

I do not blame him at all. I haven’t had to face anything like that. And I agree I think he’s done good largely far more than almost any other billionaire (still, being a billionaire makes this iffy).

I just understand why the perception is a little bit skewed.

Hearing him discuss it is what always shakes me a bit. Not the fact he had to do it, that makes sense.

But to discuss it without emotion or being shaken…

I guess that’s why he’s a billionaire and I’m a writer.

Yeah not a psychologist so I’m not going to speculate too hard, but I can imagine a link between the level of dissociation it takes to get through that and how that affects your lifetime view of risk, which directly led to him becoming the billionaire

I like Soros too, but it is a shame that the UK ended up not adopting the Euro. Hard to see how they would have had Brexit if they were already on the same currency.
