And I think it's important to point out, too- I know it's scary out there and I'm not gonna tell trans people that transphobia isn't real, but there is not some huge popular upswing in transphobia, there are a bunch of people rich enough to own media outlets who are huge transphobes.

I would say somewhat. It's true that anti-trans antagonists lie, exaggerate, and spread misinformation through media. Adults can be influenced, and public opinion can be swayed and changed with bankrolled campaigns, which is measureable.
