I was on CNN about 3 times that week regarding this topic (others: Jake Tapper; unrecorded CNN International appearance) and it's normal that they do a quick pre-show phone call between them and me (they're over there, I was in a Florida satellite studio) just to get everyone's information straight

On one of these pre-show calls, they repeatedly asked two or three times after I'd already told them my real name (Lauren), what my previous name (deadname) had been - they did not seem to be respecting me dodging that question. I finally told them I also went by Zinnia Jones. That was all they got

I'd been out and transitioning for less than a year at that point, this wasn't substantially an obstacle to how I personally ended up handling the situation regardless, but that's still a rough order to put on someone when they're fairly new at this
