I’ve seen some pretty interesting lectures from Engg profs. :). I think we all have our own quirks, and if you make the prof feel safe with you, you get to see some of those silly sides. :)

To be clear: I am however a student not a prof!

But yes we do, from time to time, get some quirky exam outlines/start times!

Cool! Quirks are like Easter eggs in the sea of boring syllabi. I don’t think American profs have that freedom any more given that they have reporting systems, and are firing teachers for respecting their students (name/gender preference).

I hope you get more Easter eggs in future classes!

Can professors pick the time of the exam or? Also, I have no idea about the little note there, but you reminded me of my Detailing Studio professor who makes sure there are comfortable seats, lighting arrangements, and long explanations to make us comfortable for 5 hour classes.

Not at my institution. We are very large, and so every exam is booked centrally (date, time and location) by our Registrar. They all must fit within a 1.5 week schedule. I only did this for the final exam. I normally have no say, except this time for requesting the size of the classroom. ;)

It's really ruthless, you teach the class all semester, you know the needs and abilities of the students and yet you have no say. Academy is quite claustrophobic😭

I’ll be honest - I’m actually quite happy with the offloading of the administration centrally. I would rather spend my time on content delivery and curriculum development to teach. They have to make sure all the students are able to write their finals and that they don’t overlap…

This comment has a reference to a statistical concept (positive skew) demonstrated by an example (comparing Husky Musky’s net worth to the average American) used at the beginning of the year, and the meme - “the audacity of…[insert entitled example]”. I’m quite proud of this. LOL
