Yup. Febo, a chain of snackbars in NL, still has those.

Not having any pressure to tip is a huge advantage to the automat restaurant concept.

Always cracked me up in Germany french fries are called pommes frites likely cause they didn’t want to call them French … but the phrase is French. 😀

There used to be one on the lower end of St Mark's Place in Manhattan and I'm still sad it closed (over a decade ago)

The frites are at the counter, not in the machine :(
