Pretty sure most people self-ship and bend the characters into AUs so it works out and that they are pretty aware of the fact that the OG wouldnt like that. In case of Mammon, he would love none of us or our sonas. Why do we ship and selfship? For the fun and to get carried away.

Many yumes don't make AUs, not the Mammon ones at least. It's not fun, just lazy, delusional and convenient. You don't engage with THE character if you have to bend them backwards. I can't really buy the narrative if the person can't do the bare minimum of showing why they think it would even work.

If one can't put minimum effort into showing why they think the yumeship would even work, they shouldn't expect people to accept \ be invested in it.

The only ones stuck in a tiny box of thinking are people who take a character with established personality, declare themselves a pair just because, refuse to properly explain that, and start to gatekeep the entire fandom and tell the person to "suffer in silence" if they say something inconvenient.

"Suffer in silence" is a very cool and supportive thing to say to fellow fandom member, that's what a real community looks like. It will certainly motivate me to be more understanding. For a person who seems to value other people feelings and whether they are happy, you sure are blindly spiteful.

As far as character personality goes, I think it's fun to explore different sides of a character. Mammon, for example, is fun to try and write for cause you do have to wonder how he'd react to (1/?

someone giving him genuine affection. Is he capable of reciprocating? Would it take time? How would he feel meeting someone he can see relatable qualities in? It's fun to come up with ideas for that sort of thing, and in the end a yumeship can just be for fun and there's nothing wrong with that!

I do agree that yumeship can be a gateway to character exploration the source material doesn't offer, but there's gotta be something to base your ideas on. If everything a person assumes is based on nothing and is simply convenient to them, it's not really an exploration of the character.
