Just look at the number of times Fartage has been on Question Time!
He wasn't even an MP for most of them!😡
Help to save the planet be a priority for all nations . But with Trump’s, drill baby drill
And Labour's end goal for net zero is the same regardless of whether airports expand. It just means you need to do even more elsewhere.
Dissuading regular flyers is a key.
HOW can it be cheaper to fly somewhere than to go by train?
Labour have reversed some of that already, in their budget last October for all levels, with BIG increases on it for small / private jets.
Can more be done? Yes, but this was a steady start.
I'm someone who does want cheaper, more reliable rail transport. I also know that takes time & money. Setting up GBR is a good start. I know people were saddened no new rail was announced in the budget, we need stuff finished 1st.
We are part of a global society that requires lots of long distance flights.
It would be a nice thing to try and discourage such flights, but will be near impossible to achieve any significant reduction.
And we know how damaging the recent issues at Heathrow were. Our system doesn't even have spare capacity at the moment.
So any attempt to reduce the numbers flying would first be about reducing the expected increase in demand.
Only then would you even start to tackle reducing down further from the current demand.
