From my knowledge: the narrow wing aspect ratio and fuselage fineness ratios are for aero efficiency. Portholes are structurally efficient.
But I also just asked 'em. They said: the thin booms minimize weight aft. The swoopyness is jsut Rutan's and Bird's aesthetic sensibility.
