This is easier said than done today - I’ve heard of doctors and their staff being screamed at and physically assaulted over mask mandates. What we need is Public Health to mandate it in every patient space from hospitals to offices. Without that, it’s difficult. - ThreadSky

I was at the Orleans urgent care a few weeks ago and they have a strict mask policy in place, which is great. I read they had to arrest an 18 year old man there a week before for threatening violence and I did wonder whether it might be related to the mask policy.

Well, that's terrifying.

I visited there for shoulder x-rays a few months ago, and was pleased and relieved to see the mask policy still in place. I do NOT want to see them terrorized into surrender on that point.

It’s quite a statement to say ‘terrorized into surrender’ when we have a shortage of doctors and nurses who, once they get beaten up, quit. We can’t expect individuals to hold the line - we need public health mandates- and safe working spaces for doctors and nurses.

One story of many - one of my colleagues was so badly beaten that she spent weeks in ICU. Nurses will tell you their stories that will break your heart. We aren’t trained to deal with violent patients so we need an umbrella protection of mandates.

A close friend of mind is a nurse and has been assaulted by patients twice at work. This shouldn't be part of the job. It's unacceptable.

I’m so very sorry. We now have police at some ERs but doctors offices are completely unprotected and everyone is at risk.

I wouldn't want that either. Funnily enough I've had shoulder Xrays there in the past too. It's just conjecture on my part re. the masking since it can be a sore point. They were certainly holding strong on the rule during my visit, sending people off to buy masks before they'd be allowed in.

It makes such a difference, doesn't it! Half the people waiting in that crowded room had hacking coughs but I didn't pick up anything extra during my 2.5 hours there because everyone was masked.
