This was so sensitively written and true it’s bringing back memories, fears and gratitude that I am no longer on the streets. I became homeless with 3 large dogs who saved me more times than I can say.
Ands I never once thought of dumping them at the shelter.

So sad, The author’s words are heartfelt. Federal funding for homelessness is often channeled through various programs administered by local governments and organizations, which seem to lead to inefficiencies, with very little actually getting to the homeless population. We should be better Citizens

This was a ride for me. His noir style is incredible. My heart breaks for somebody just trying to get by without cops harassing them.

His perspectives are genuine, and call out plenty of things that shouldn't be. Focused on who's wronging him. Less on what he can do to help right himself.

Perspectives are complicated.

UBI is simple. It helps. This
experience would look better if he had UBI and proper coverage of his basic medical needs.

UBI in a vacuum is simple, but adding it to the current bullshit of means-tested programs is complicated.

I'll never forget when Andrew Yang could not answer the simple question on Chapo -- if you people get UBI will they no longer qualify for other programs, because they make too much.
