Just noticed this on the GW website - it kinda seems like a bad thing, right? Or maybe it’s just prep for a new edition of Warcry? Hard to tell - if only they’d say anything.

Online only is rarely a good sign with them. I used to own a game store and managed a different one later... When a GW rep would tell me it's online only... OOF.
Honestly as someone who plays it and loves it i wouldnt be shocked if it sells more branded stuff from people wanting terrain than kits right now. People got wary after the mass squat message like with underworlds but maybe they were shelved for a revamp?
I expected that as well - but the online only thing doesn’t bode well for a new edition. I could see then saying the 2nd books are “online only” but they’re saying the whole section is online only - even the models. Odd.
I was really expecting Cursed City to be that. I think that they haven’t redone Mordheim yet makes me think they never will? They missed the anniversary.
IMO it got bogged down by being solely about chaos cultists for an edition and a half
Because 4th "had" to cut off all excess Warcry warbands for StD it also killed the confidence on buying Warcry in general
It needs a proper full re-release to garner back faith so flip a coin on what GW does
As an ex-retailer, online only is usually mean the big F-U. The timing is good for a third edition but I feel sales for Warcry2 might not have so great. Probably not related but releases were also much more boring in V2 than those we had during V1.
It was nice that they used it to release new units for factions outside of the normal all-at-once army release format, but I don't know if it worked as well as it does for Kill Team and 40k.
Because Cursed City is a couple of big boxes on a store, you keep 1 or 2 and be done.
Warcry has multiple warbands, a starter set, accessories and terrain to keep in stock and suddenly you have a whole faction's worth of stuff using retail space.
This could mean 3 things for me:
- I'll continue to play Warcry as it is, for ever.
- I'll switch to OPR or Trench Crusade
- A new edition is coming, which may or may not redirect to the points above.
This is their best game! I hope they don't kill it off
Honestly feel like the best thing they could do for Warcry is leave it alone, it’s already perfect. If they move on and we don’t get a new edition every 3 years I think I’ll be fine. Will miss them making really cool model sets though. Warcry like has some of their bests.

If they say nothing, it's now "complete."

Whether it’s good news or bad news, who can say.
