I’ve come to realize that too many of our fellow citizens don’t have a freaking clue what’s going on in politics. They don’t watch any news. They have tuned out, and this is one of the reasons why we are stuck once again with the orange slug.

The result of long-enculturated detachment from authenticity for fake reality: taught that Olive Garden is genuine Italian cuisine, cruise ships and theme parks are subs for immersive travel, that Amazon and Costco are quality shopping experiences, and that Vegas is the epitome of Western culture.
Absolutely right. I had several conversations with people in the last week about what trump wants to do and Project 2025. They look at me like I have two heads, then claim that he won't do that or it's not true. Infuriating.
I don't have cable tv so I don't watch news. I sometimes read news though. 😊
I also have a multinational relationship and multinational friendships. What I've realized is that Americans have shit education on politics, civics, philosophy.
Anyone who thought that electing him a 2nd time was a good idea is WAY past simply tuning-out, IMO
Their life choices are racism, misogyny, & pathological stupidity. If the first 4 years of the Orange Bastard in the WH wasn't enough, then it's going to take a MUCH harder lesson to cure this problem
I see your point as well. I guess my awareness is because the last couple of days when I was with family no one watched any news and they’re not on social media.
Thank you. In the past I was very on-board with the "our problem is messaging" post-election analyses.
But this time it's different, IMO. This time the messaging from the Turnip Crime Family stoked the inherent hatred of "those people" in his followers. It is problem rooted deep in our culture
I don’t know how we break through to these disenfranchised voters unless they get hurt really badly economically. I don’t want to sees it happen, but I think it will.
I’ve been talking about how we are kept at the mercy of low/no information voters who vote - or don’t - based on their feelings combined with whatever propaganda they’re exposed to. I don’t know how we combat it - we can’t deny their right to vote and yet….

I ask around, I talk to people.
Some are engaged.
Too many others just go yeah sure whatever and tune out.

I wish I were wrong, but I can't see how anyone would vote for him this time - but they did...
That's why Hillary Clinton lost to the Orange Slug in 2016.
Nm... I'm gonna calm down...
