Instead of having a national debate on whether we should strip benefits from those not in work, I propose we debate whether we should strip citizenship from those who don't pay their taxes π

Having worked in the benefit system for over 30 years I've seen it all from scroungers to the desperate. One thing I can say without a doubt. There's more corruption at the top than there will ever be at the bottom.
I wonder at what point during Labours post election planning mtg it was when someone said 'l know who we should focus on, those on benefits, they've had it too easy under the Tories'
UNUM was closed down in Texas, but that was for being a rogue denial mill. However, if an American state can throw a company out, then a country certainly can.
My main issue with that idea is I'm generally against the idea of stripping citizenship from anyone for any reason. It's a tool that's already been abused to get rid of "undesirable" people with little care for the consequence.
Oh I'm totally in favour of some form of sanction against the rich who don't pay their taxes (and closing up loopholes they exploit). I just don't like measures that could be exploited for the wrong things down the line (and probably avoided by the super-rich anyway). Its a tough balance.
No, it doesn't. You're below the level to pay tax. If you go over it, unless you decided to put everything you earn over 12.5K GBP into a complex web of shell companies and other holdings, you'll pay tax on the rest. You're not avoiding tax.
Let's try and convince the public that we're better off expending our energy going after the big tax dodgers and getting back billions instead of those on benefits that would only get us back millions.

However, you can do what Indonesia has done to Apple or something similar to keep capital in the country of generation.

I can't find a job and I'm living off my rapidly decreasing savings. Your proposal strips my citizenship too. π
