I read The Haunting of Toby Jugg by Dennis Wheatley when I was at school, and I don't normally read that kind of horror but enjoyed it. Not ghosts exactly but occult. Not recommended if you're arachnophobic though.

Are you purchasing or doing “extreme browsing”? Somebody I went to art college with read Voltaire’s Candide cover to cover over five days standing in WH Smith in a West Yorkshire shopping centre. Not completely sure why, maybe he was on a local library blacklist.
