Yes! Despite its flaws, the Constitution has stood strong—& evolved—for 250 years of democracy & natl success w/ very distinct protection of separation of powers. The FF could have crafted it to include “unitary executive theory”, but they intentionally did NOT. Clearly they were wiser than the GOP!

It is abundantly clear that the unitary executive theory is not meant to allow for the transfer of power to the opposing party. They would never tolerate a Democrat president to hold these powers.

My takeaway from the excellent conversation is that we need permitting reform (NEPA) to get things built quickly and civil service reform so that a President can bring in more people quickly to implement priority initiatives. Tough stuff.

Did which ever 24 year-old staffer recommended this interview even bother to read the comments to the article? They are mostly quite critical of the article. However, Ezra fails to raise most of those points. This seems to be another example of a liberal who won’t defend his own position.

We’ve got to force DOGE to provide proof of their “fraud” claims. Half the country believes them but there’s no there there. Worse, some things they’re destroying can’t be fixed - like halted clinical trials or lost funding for STEM research that turns a generation of PhD students away from the US
