I’m worried that we have a good manager and a squad full of poor fits for his system. I’m concerned about a Graham Potter situation where the players just don’t show interest in learning a new system.

These players have disappointed me too much for me to have much hope after what I’ve seen.

We are better in and out of position. Moving better. Too many silly mistakes from the team and bad defence against set pieces but I think he’ll iron these out. He’ll want to bring in players who can play his system too I guess. Needs time.

Holding out hope, but I'm worried.

With the rash Ashworth sacking, I went from trusting that INEOS had a plan to being worried there's no plan at all but smash square pegs in round holes.

Wingbacks are very important to the system, only Amad fits that profile, and you really need four of them.

Given what he has to play with I’d say he’s not doing a bad job. Nobody expecting him to turn us in to title contenders overnight. He’s tightened up our defending a bit and his tactics are making sense. He just needs to clear out the deadwood and be backed in the transfer window.

Loving that we have control, possession-wise at least. The system looks like it will improve once players have fully synced up with it. We need confidence too, which will take a good run of results — and, of course, time.

He's changing how we play. As he said, we will suffer this season because he believes that's the only way we can progress in the longer term. It took SAF 3.5 years just to win a trophy & 6.5 to win the league. Let's give the man a chance, I'll start judging him 2.5 years from now.

So nice to read sensible well written opinion, it’s ok to be frustrated because we should have about 12 more points than we do, but have to let the new manager get who he wants in, you’ve got to give the leadership team time to change the club for the better, there will be casualties along the way.

The issue here is that his style means high pressing & lots of running & a high defensive line. I don't see how that suits De Ligt, Maguire, Rashford & Zirkzee in particular. But we have to stick with him, move on the players he doesn't want & let him get his players in.

I expected us to lose at Arsenal but was disappointed about how we were repeatedly done on set pieces. Forest was very disappointing. His system will suit the players with higher football intelligence like Mainoo in the long term as he will adapt as well as well the obvious ones in Ugarte & Amad.

Once again, changing the manager isn't what's needed because the manager isn't the problem.

The problem is the players.

The manager needs time, closer to a decade, to actually implement changes to see genuine improvement.

I can see Mainoo being Captain after Bruno. He seems more level headed, calm under pressure and can see the play in front of him like Keane and Robson.
