I got most of what I typically use on a day to day basis up and running however, things I was hoping to use like VirtualBox was just broken. No fix I could find could fix it. That and the hassle to just get some of my peripherals to regain full functionality (drivers) made me switch back.

That and the fact I couldn't just overwrite the drive I downloaded Linux on (which is my main drive) after deciding to switch back and essentially making me go through the pain of trying to reinstall windows on my main drive which normally you wouldn't have to do.

Now if they made it as easy to overwrite Windows, as it is easy to overwrite Linux I wouldn't have much of a problem. However, the amount of issues plus this cherry on top has made me stay away from Linux for good. Maybe I'll see if I could get it to work on a VM but other than that no Linux for me.

Linux Mint since it seemed the most user friendly. I've used Ubuntu (have it on an old 2014 acer laptop and rpi pc 400). It was hell and back trying to install essentially anything other than Steam (actual good linux support).

What ever's in there can be installed with a single click.

I did. VirtualBox I tried to get running but apparently needed packages I couldn't even download through ftp. It was the worst program on the list.

I always checked the package manager first, if not I had to use the terminal. Like specific drivers required it and some programs.

Strange, worked absolutely flawless on my installations (Laptop and PC [just tried it on the PC 15 minutes ago]).

Only problem I've had once (some weeks ago) with installing software was that the defined mirror server was down.
After switching to an alternative everything went fine.

Yeah Idk why it didn't work I kept getting a rc=-1908 error. I looked across the web for a fix and every solution that was there was different. I tried each one and no dice. Essentially it was impossible to use it.

Typically check if it's available through the software manager, if not I would download through the terminal. Some apps required specific packages downloaded and then installed in a certain order. VirtualBox was essentially dead in the water though.
