I tried to change over to Linux tonight. I immediately switched back to Windows (which was a surprisingly pain in the ass to do). The simple fact was packages, and how so many programs needed crazy work around or didn't work at all because the packages it relied on were deprecated.

What ever's in there can be installed with a single click.
I always checked the package manager first, if not I had to use the terminal. Like specific drivers required it and some programs.
Only problem I've had once (some weeks ago) with installing software was that the defined mirror server was down.
After switching to an alternative everything went fine.
